FIA delays decision on McLaren's appeal

LONDON (Jul 27, 1998 - 10:10 EDT) - McLaren will have to wait another day
to find out the result of their appeal against the victory by Formula One
rivals Ferrari at the recent British Grand Prix.

The International Automobile Federation (FIA) said on Monday it would not
make public its decision until Tuesday.

McLaren are protesting after German Michael Schumacher won the race at
Silverstone while sitting in the Ferrari pit-lane, serving a penalty for
overtaking while yellow flags were out after another car had spun off.

FIA, the sport's governing body, is to publish its ruling from its Paris
headquarters a day later than planned.

The three stewards from the British GP will be appearing in front of the
world motorsport council on Wednesday for their part in the much-criticised
race.
