It's stupid, yup! AFAIAC, if anybody enters my home at night, there's an
assumption of harmful intent, and being it's dark, I can't be SURE they're not
carrying a deadly weapon, so I'm going to strike first, strike hard, and I'm
going to make my first shot/hit COUNT!!! :P

(this is the advice I've received from several RCMP officers!)

(the advice including, "if they live, they will lie like anything, and you
could end up the one going to jail, but if they are dead, ONLY you have the
full story of the circumstances, and, at night, it's obvious they considered
the possibility of violent confrontation, and entered the house, expecting not
to be the loser!)

To me, if someone is in my home at night(especially) it's automatically a
situation where a quick lethal response on my part is completely appropriate
and "reasonable"! :P

And, in MY case, being I don't have a gun, and I'm physically disabled, the
level of force I'd need to use to ensure incapacitation of an attacker, without
increasing the danger to myself is much higher! (and, I'm quite willing, if
the SOB has broke in, to ensure he never does so again (to me or to anybody
else, ever again!) :P
