lesson zero: always clear the outbound and turn off the mailer when working
with (new/alpha/beta) tosser software on established systems... when finished
testing the tosser software, check and clear the outbound again before turning
the mailer back on... taking these steps ensures that erroneously scanned out
mail is not regurgitated into the rest of the network... highwater marks are
not all managed the same way in all software... even in the same message
base...
