subject: digital recording on a PC

I've been thinking about using my home PC to do some home recording. I've
gotten some information on a Yamaha CBX-5, digital recording processor and
the software, CUBASE AUDIO (by Steinberg). I will be buying myself a new
computer that will be designed around home recording. Can anybody help me
with the following questions?:
What would be my computer requirements? i.e. should it be a Pentium,
1 GIG HD, how much RAM, etc.
Has anybody worked with these and how do you like it?
Any rumors on CUBASE coming out with a 32-bit version to accommodate
WINDOWS95?
What is the best soundcard for this type of work?
Any other information would be much appreciated. I would've contacted the
companies, but the information pamphlets I have don't include any phone
numbers or addresses.
Thanks in advance,
Brian
