I don't know if this is the most appropriate echo for this question,
but I'll give it a shot.

I run a two line BBS system here that I've had online for about 7 years
now, and I run two 33.6 USR Sportster modems on it.

I've been having some intermittent line noise problems here and have
had the phone company check the lines, with no luck. Mostly what I
notice here is people across certain local prefixes have more problems
than callers from other prefixes, with line noise.

My question here is: Is there some device I can use to condition my
lines and/or alter the db level to improve upon the lags and loss of
carrier my callers are getting? Is there something I can have the
phone company do with the db level that would help? Or would they
even do it for residential phone lines?

Any help would be most appreciated.
