MS> Rich, I use a BC200XLT handheld in my truck (and everywhere else)
MS> with no problems. To fix the sound problem, I picked up an adapter
MS> that plugs into the headphone jack, and then inserts in the cassette
MS> player, playing the scanner audio on the car stereo.
THC> I use a PRO-46 in my car. To fix my sound problem, I picked
THC> a 200W amp that has a "CD/AUX IN" jack. I just run a simple
THC> patch cord from scanner headphone jack to the amp and viola!
THC> Much better sound than I've heard out of cassette adapters.
THC> I was just a tad worried about squelch tails and EMS tones
THC> blowing the speakers, but this hasn't happened (yet).
I guess I'm strange. I just bought an amplified
speaker, attached a cigarette plug to it (I'm going to
hard wire it some day) and use an Y spliter to run it
and my scanner at the same time.
MS> through a seat belt slot in the seat, directly anchoring into the
MS> scanner, along with the external antenna cable.
THC> scanner to the sun visor, which gets the antenna up high and
THC> puts the controls and display where I can see them. I guess
THC> people just think I have a very funny-looking radar
THC> detector. :-)
I used to do that until my old handheld slipped out and
whacked my wife in the head. Gave her a bump above the
eye and ME a headache (It happened almost a year ago
and I STILL hear about it )
MS> And, with the BC200XLT, breakage isn't a problem, since the
MS> (*^@%$^^(*&% thing is built like a brick!
THC> Luckily, so is by PRO-46.
So are my PRO-37 and AR1000 but even a brick will break
if you drop it enough.
