If the BSA Super Star is the same as the UK model then the rail is called a
Maxi and has a layer f rubber between the rifle cylinder and the dovetail.
The dovetail rail and the rifle are meant to be isolated from each other
with this absorbing the recoil. Hence no hole for a recoil stud. This
system is akin to the Theoben Dampa Mount system. If it has this rubber
buffer try the scope on the rifle to check for movement before resorting to
machining a hole in it.
