Please, let us not be so picky. I do consider a suggestion to be a
contribution....     :-)}

I don't wish to appear to be "uncool", but I feel that one batch file that is
able to work with either comspec is more than adequate...

If I'm understanding you correctly -- I have a separate directory for my
batch files and a separate directory for my BTMs, already. Depending on
which comspec is active for the current session, the path changes; i.e., for
4DOS, the BTM directory is at the beginning of the path and the batch
directory is the last directory on the path. Does that make sense?

Yes, I know about it and I'm sorry to say that I'm not surprised. My boss
and I are currently scrambling about trying to find a way to insert my 4D
address into my echomail messages instead of my pointnet address. Real can
of worms there, but it's under construction...

In a word: NO. Sorry.

Question time. Would it be possible for you to create a little debug script
file that would make the modifications to CHKDSK.EXE and post it here? I
could copy my CHKDSK.EXE to, say, CHKDSK.XXX (for backup purposes) and then
run the debug script to modify CHKDSK.EXE. My current method for getting rid
of the nag screen is:
    CHKDSK %drive%:|find /v "Serial"|find /v "Instead"|find /v "range"|...
      ...find /v "SCANDISK"
Kind of like swatting a fly with a twenty pound sledgehammer, but it gets the
job done.
I know there are limitations with this kind of posting in BatPower, but I
think it is acceptable in this echo AND there may be a vast number of people
who have been wanting to do the same to their copy of CHKDSK...
              G'Day ... Gerald
