There's an excellent trick if you must do a lot of this. Fit a second tow ball on the FRONT of the tow vehicle. Pull up in the general area, flip the tow vehicle around, and hey presto, not only can you see what you're doing, but the steerable wheels are under the towball, AND they do things you expect 'em to do. Done by professional mobile home movers on occasion - lets you spot the trailer to within fractions of an inch with ease (given practice, of course.) "Backing up" the trailer looses its terrors quicksmart.
