Well, you can check that list he gave. If WWE has been charging $35 per
PPV since last year (it may have been less back then, but I'm not certain),
the only recent PPV that was worth his money was Wrestlemania from 2002.
I'm guessing the double prices are without skits and with skits. You may
be right that his general ratings are too low overall. Isn't it also
possible that WWE is overcharging people and *not* giving them their
money's worth? We've all seen some of the garbage that has gotten onto
television -- why should a PPV that they charge money for all of a sudden
be so much better than the televised events?
>Frankly, I felt the Benoit/Angle match and the Rumble itself was worth the

I've never bought a PPV; I don't think our cable setup choice lets us buy
PPV events. I've thought about ordering the on line broadcasts since WWE
started doing them. It's cheaper, too, $17.95 for the Royal Rumble web
cast according to the page just now. (Aside: if you compare Hack-Man's
ratings to the web cast cost, which I think has been as low as $15, quite
a few of them will have been worth the money.) I've been waiting for a
card that makes me go, "ooo, I *really* want to see this PPV!" and it
hasn't happened. E.g., here I'm sure Benoit/Angle was a great match and
the rumble itself is kind of unique (even if not a huge attention grabber),
but the rest of the matches I didn't care all that much about, so no
purchase.

If I'm not mistaken, Hack-Man has addressed this question in the past.
I can't remember exactly what his reasoning was, but as I recall things
do tend to even out in the end. For example, more matches in the same
3-4 hour time slot will often mean there is less time per match. That might
mean that the matches aren't as good as they could have been had they gone
on longer. That would have the effect of dropping the ratings. So more
matches, but shorter ones, isn't necessarily going to get more points
(dollars) than a small number of long matches. That might have been the
reasoning, I don't know. I'm sure Hack-Man can reply if he wants to.
And as a final note, I have to agree that I enjoy reading these
reviews. Rating the matches and skits based on how much money they were
worth is a rather unique idea. It's definitely a different perspective
on how good or bad things were. I try to read a few different reviews on
usenet or web sites. Some are more detailed than others for one thing
and it's also interesting to see how viewpoints differ.
