Have you seem the episode Faces from season 1, it explains why the Vidians
consider B'Elanna an asset. If you wanna know why see below.

B'Elannas Klingon DNA are resistant to the phage.
The Vidians found that out when they captured B'Elanna and split her in to one
human and one klingon and did several tests on the klingon B'Elanna.
That DNA could find them a cure.
