Indianapolis ready to host US Grand Prix

(10-Jul-98) - Tony George, owner of the famous Indianapolis circuit, is
serious about hosting a Formula One race in the US. George recently visited
Bernie Ecclestone in London after having already lodged plans for a road
course with the FIA.

The Indy boss said that if Formula One returns to the US, it has to be to
Indianapolis. The event would attract 150,000 people and that he needs to
have an answer as soon as possible. "We either have to pull the
trigger or pull the plug," George said trying to force Ecclestone to
make a choice. It is said that the track will head down the main straight
the wrong way, then turn right after turn four, threading its way through
the golf course, to rejoin the Brickyard at turn one.

Besides Indianapolis, Long Beach with promoter Chris Pooch is also inline
to host a Formula One Grand Prix.
