Hello Rod

 VC> That's right. That's why I pulled into a country service station. I
VC> only opened the bonnet to try and impress him that I wasn't
VC> completely ignorant so he wouldn't charge me heaps.

RG> But in a country service station you can expect to pay heaps
 RG> anyway.

I got out of it lightly. Cost me $6.10.

RG> You'll be surprised at the strength & resoursefulness
RG> you'll find when stuck in the middle of nowhere and _need_ to
 RG> undo them.

VC> Nope, I would use the mobile phone and ring the RAA. That's why I
 VC> joined the RAA.

RG> Good idea. Don't forget to always keep a book in the car for
RG> something to read while waiting.

Always have a book in the car these days. Have sat outside too many
appointments waiting for my husband lately.

VC> And having no brothers I never played with meccanno either.

RG> So your only experience at fixing things would be putting the arms
RG> back on your Barbie doll ?

I never had a Barbie doll either.

VC> I only towed a trailer for the first time in 24 years of
VC> driving in the last month.

VC> Yep. Working out how to get it on the car was my main hassle. I just
VC> don't have the strength to lift it and haul it onto the tow-ball as
VC> my husband would have done. Remembering to remove the jockey-wheel
VC> before I drive off with the trailer is another trap I have fallen
 VC> into.

 RG> Yeah, I've done that too. :-(

And in all the trailer trips I did I only had 1 thing fall off that I
hadn't secured properly.

VC> drive into a position that I can't drive from I have made sure that I
VC> am where I can unload the trailer (final destination) and then unhook
VC> the trailer, turn around the car and trailer and drive off forward
 VC> again.

RG> Hey, I never thought of that one.

Called working within your limitations.

Vicki
