Williams engine despute solved

(2-Jul-98) - Williams and Mecachrome have resolved their dispute over the
supply of engines next year. In June, Super High Performance Engineering, a
company owned and run by ex-Benetton teamchef Flavio Briatore, took over
the marketing of the Mecachrome engines. Briatore demanded Williams to
renegotiate it's contract for 1999 with Super High Performance Engineering
although the Grove based team already signed a contract with Mecachrome
until the end of 2000.

But the matter seems to be resolved now after Williams and Mecachrome met
at Magny Cours. Williams will continue to use the engines until 2000 badged
as Mecachrome while Benetton and newcomer British American Racing will use
the engine badged as Super Tec Sport.
