Hehehehe... I'm certain Klinton consulted with the spin doctors,
et al, to discover which breed would earn him the most points with
the bleating sheep! Everyone else seeking a dog is encouraged to
research the various breeds to select a breed whose temperment and
care needs will work with your lifestyle and fit in with the rest
of the family -- but Buddy, I'm 100% sure, was selected to impress
the American people (after all, what is MORE American than owning
one of the great hunting & sporting breeds?) ... and NOT out of
any love for the breed... It is all a sham show for the rubes...
Another thing making this all suspect is that you have a 50 y.o.
man who has never owned a dog during his adult life -- a person
who loves dogs (or cats, or insert pet of choice here) will always
have a pet, even if it is an adopted stray. Buddy smacks so much
of being an impulse buy -- it makes me sick...
This is the way I see it going down:
I think Klinton heard enough chatter in the press about there being
no "First Dog" & simply woke up one day, determined to add a dog to
the WH for his image (like the "I could have had a V-8 ad"). From
there, Klinton probably had his staff (another frivolous waste of
OUR money) do a focus group or some other research to pick the best
breed to maximize Klinton's public image... Once selected, photo-ops
and a cover story were fabricated so it could seem like Klinton just
"happened" to meet Buddy (sweet serendipity) through a supporter,
just so "happened" to hit it off (love at first bite), & then Klinton
just so "happened" to decide he now wanted to adopt a dog -- this dog,
the one who "stole his heart"... Yeah... right...
