-[ Quoting William Elliot , to Dennis Menard ]-
DM> We had an EB ... With National Geographic (108 years on 30 CDs),
DM> Gutenberg (850 vols as of Oct 97), and a few other computer resources
WE> Wow! And all of this electronically crossed referenced? Like if I
WE> wanted to know about sex, could I do just one search to cross reference
WE> all of this stuff or would I have to individually look up sex in each
WE> electronic index for each reference source?
:) Gutenberg isn't indexed at all; it's a simple collection of e-text. In
the National Geographic set a search, for your area of interest, can be per-
formed from any of its 30 CDs, and it will provide a list of every location
where your area of interest is addressed on all 30 CDs. For example.
WE> The SCIENCE echo would be a place to consider basic science, the other
WE> echo would be good for discussing applications of science. Seems I've
WE> peeked at both and decided for the SCIENCE echo.
I'll see about picking it up; thanks for the reference.
WE> So that's why the media monopoly is legal, 'cause it maintains the
WE> status quo?
DM> :) Is that what it's doing?
WE> Yea, we're seeing it always going from bad to worse but do you ever
WE> see it get better? -)
Doesn't that mean it presents the status quo as changing for the worse? :)
