GR> Gidday everyone, Recently there was a car audio competition
GR> held in Christchurch, New Zealand. The overall winner sported a
GR> system that could produce inaccess of 125db of sound, (sound???
125db really isn't that much in car audio competition. There's some vehicles
here in the US that can hit 155db and higher. I'm guessing at this, but I'd
say mine can probably hit around 120db, but I don't have nearly as much money
into it as he does (2 amps, 2 8" bass tubes, 2 6.5" mids, 2 1" tweets.. about
$1500/US).
GR> really!) Surely sound levels of this magnatude are definately
GR> injurious to ones health. Not onlyto the ears but other vital organs.
125db? Ears, yes, if exposed to those levels for extended amounts of times.
Organs? I seriously doubt it. I get one hell of a back massage when I drive
my vehicle (a pickup truck with the tubes behind the seat) though :-).
GR> all these db's start auto-dismantling the vehicle? An aquaintance had
GR> a VW beetle with a 200Watt power amp and as winter set in he had
GR> numerous windscreen/rear window leaks occuring. I wonder why? ;-]
I have around 300 watts or so (total, RMS, not peak) in my system. No leaks.
Probably partly because I've fixed all the rattles that I could hear with the
bass (in a truck, especially one as old as mine [1980], there's usually
lots).
