I finally made the effort and downloaded BOS shareware (13 MB for pinball,
though?), and it seems like an auspicious debut for Pinball Wizards.
The graphics are certainly good (what resolution & colour depth though? It
isn't said), and the action seems authentic-enough, or at least as authentic
as organic tubes and little animated models can get. The sound is nice too.
Even the interface is pretty slick and easy to use compared to some games.
If there's one problem, it's one that I've noticed in quite a few games as
of late: the install. Why do I have to unzip an EXE file which is hardly
smaller than the ZIP file itself, THEN have a whole bunch of files extracted
to my C drive, and THEN set it up? I don't want to have to leave 50+ MB on
there just for an install!
But other than that, it's a solid effort. I'm not sure if I'll get the
full game (I'd like to save money for Duke Nukem Forever, after all), but
you'll be glad to know I haven't deleted it off my hard disc.
