Same old, same old. Work continues to be crazy. I still get EQUUS, Mike
Plumb's Horse Journal, Practical Horseman, Dressage Today and Horseplay to
get my horse fix. Plus the gazillion catalogs that come as the result of
subscribing to all these things. Every week I take the new arrivals up to
the laundry room and read while my clothes are in the wash, wishing I was out
riding instead.
EQUUS did a lead article a couple of issues ago (#238) about how to cope with
losing your horses, and they're still getting letters from readers who have
lost their horses. One I particularly remember from last month's issue came
from a woman who was helped by having a printed article she could give to her
family and friends who didn't understand why she was as upset as she was. It
made me glad that we could be here for you and Meg. How sad it must be to
lose your horse and not have *anybody* you know to talk to about it that
would understand.
This month's EQUUS (241) is the 20th anniversary issue, and has a big look
back on the first 20 years, with lots of sidebars containing biographies of
the contributors and a nice photo spread of the staff members' horses who
have been used as models over the years.
The October EQUUS (240) had another lead article on John Lyons.
And boy, you can really tell Christmas is coming -- I just got a holiday
catalog from Tack in the Box, and one came last week from Back in the Saddle,
and I'm sure there are more I'm forgetting about.
