there are three mail servers for fidonet.us... mail.fidonet.us,
mail2.fidonet.us and mail3.fidonet.us... SMTP servers should try all listed
MXs several times with longer and longer periods between attempts... one of
the ones i use will finally bounce the message after 4 days of trying to
deliver to the remote SMTP server... 

are you sending to a SMTP server that is then relaying to fidonet.us or are
you sending direct from your email client?
