                       Telnet to AirPower!
                       ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
     I'm posting this off-topic message here, because I've had
quite a few requests from those in this echo for telnet access.
     AirPower BBS is now Internet accessible via telnet.  If you'd
like to access via telnet, just point your web browser at the
AirPower BBS web page, http://www.airpower.com/airpower.html, and
click on the Telnet to AirPower link.  That will take you into the
BBS 2001 co-operative.  Then click on the FIND EVERYONE button,
and you will see a list of telnet accessible BBSs.  Among them
will be AirPower BBS.  If for some reason you don't see us there,
we must be having a temporary problem.
     The telnet client included with Win95 and Windows NT is
primitive.  If you have HyperTerminal installed that's not bad.
To get the most out of AirPower BBS I recommend something better,
such as Net-Term which you can download from our website, but there are
of course many other nice telnet clients.
HOW TO MAKE NET-TERM YOUR DEFAULT TELNET CLIENT IN MS INTERNET
                             EXPLORER
     It's easy.  First, install Net-Term by downloading
NT16401.EXE which is a self-extracting archive.  Run this file and
it will install Net-Term to C:\Netterm as a default, which is
fine.
     Next, look in your Windows directory, most likely C:\Windows,
for the file TELNET.EXE.  Don't delete this, as you might want it
later, but instead re-name it.  I re-named mine ZTelnet.exe so I
could find it easily later.
     Third, go back to the directory where you installed Netterm
(C:\Netterm) and select ALL files.  Copy all these files to your
Windows directory, C:\Windows.  You will be asked if you wish to
over-write a couple of these files.  Say yes.
     Finally, in your C:\Windows directory, rename NETTERM.EXE to
TELNET.EXE.
     From now on, when you click on a telnet link while using
Internet Explorer, this will bring up Net-Term, a much nicer
program.
