JS> That's the whole point.
Be prepared for wide-spread dementia, then. :-) Maybe I should get Postal
just so I can build a special "3D Realms' Office" level. The boss? Not
George Broussard... you! Maybe I could record some sound effects so that
when you're killed, you shout "it's done."
JS> You've got a lot to learn. It doesn't work like that.
Then please, teach me! I really WOULD like to break into the game
dustry.
JS> Adds nothing to the game at all.
Not to the game per se, but to the EXPERIENCE. These days, being dumped
unceremoniously into (and out of) the game is not necessarily a good thing.
Oh, and if you don't think those add anything to a game, then why do we see
animations after Duke or Lo has killed a major boss? Those are cutscenes.
And why did Mr. Broussard (at least, I think it was him) say in PC Gamer that
he wanted something better than those animations in DNF?
JS> A lot.
Errgh, there's just no fighting you, is there? Well, tell me this: just
how many new little tweaks (new things to do, engine enhancements, etc.) are
there compared to Quake II? Will we actually be able to play a full-fledged
pool game this time?
Oh, and though I don't want to tell you how to do your job, just a word of
warning: make sure DNF's levels are good, and I do mean GOOD. A few Shadow
Warrior levels were a bit dull, and suffered from the
"impossible-to-find-key" syndrome. 3D Realms is supposed to be above and
beyond the average game company, and while Shadow Warrior generally reflected
that, there were a couple of spots where things faltered.
JS> No, I don't. Not at all.
Hey, from what I saw, it was true! People just went nuts when Quake came
out, or at least within a few months of it (when things like CTF and clans
showed up). I wouldn't say that Duke was in the backwaters (I remember
fondly a local Duke tourney in June of that year... I came in 3rd!), but
Quake WAS multiplayer gaming.
