GW> The second LCD display on my car radio has failed already, and the c GW> is only about 8 years old... The exterior temperature sensor only GW> lasts 2 to 3 years... GM> I know the LCDs don't like extremely high temperatures such as we GM> get inside a car in summer in Australia, but is that a problem GM> where you are? RS> We have summer temps over 115øF for weeks at a RS> time OUTSIDE the car. My car has an LCD dash and RS> hasn't had a problem with this (yet). JE> The temperature on my dash gets over 130 degrees an a hot JE> summer day. When I was in Nevada last July, the outside JE> temp. was 120 IN the shade - dash temp would have been JE> considerably higher. Temps are normally "in the shade". If you place a thermometer in direct sunlight, it might just break, and will definitely show a higher temp. I was just saying that I know how hot it was outside the car, and we'll just have to guess how hot it was inside as I don't have a thermometer inside the car. Either way, the LCD was not obviously affected. TTYL.
