subject: FET Effects Switching

Help! Any electronics whizzes out there help! Please!
I've gone and stuffed my ProCo Rat II into a rack-mount chassis with a
fairly well-filtered power supply (12vdc Shure wireless x-fmer, 7812, and
a pair of 220mfd/35v caps). I managed to get all the control pots, LED,
and circuit board mounted fine - but now I've got an annoying problem
with audio "pops" whenever I use the remote footswitch to take the fuzz
box _out_ of the signal path. Switching's being done by a mini DPDT relay
with 12VDC coil. The DPDT is necessary to maintain the Rat's out-of-line
bypass mode.
I've noticed that a number of stomp boxes have "FET" switching
incorporated as a method for silently activating and deactivating the
effect. Can I make something like this up to solve my problem?
Schematics or reference material would be a _great_ help...thanks!
Regards,
Tim ==
