subject: Maximus & NT

For various and sundry reasons, I'm beginning to think about
switching from running OS/2 to Win/NT. I'm currently running Maximus/2 with
many online games (mostly DOS) and a few other things. I'd like to keep the
BBS open as it's become a habit afte three years. 8-)
I've tried to read most of the messages that have dealt with NT over
the past few months. I was wondering if I understand the situation
correctly.
If I want to run *any* DOS on-line games or other things, I must run
the DOS version of Maximus. This is because Maximus/NT (really NT) can not
pass an open comm port to a 16 bit application more than once (?). I can use
a NT mailer (i.e. Binkley/NT) and have it spawn the DOS version of Maximus
and I'd still be ok.
What I'm wondering is if I'm correct in the above summary? Are there
any other mailers for NT besides Binkley? Could I use a DOS mailer, calling
the DOS version of Maximus without slowing the system down? Also, I'm not
completely sure about the need for a fossil. I would assume that I need one,
especially for the DOS on-line games, but would it be a DOS fossil or a Win
NT fossil? Any recommendations?
Any help, suggestions, or tips, please pass them along. I really
would like to keep the BBS open, but I'm hoping it's not more work than it's
worth.
Thanks for any and all suggestions!
                                                Victor

P.S.
It is NOT an easy decision to switch operating systems. It is with
heavy heart that I may leave OS/2. Still thinking about. Please no flames.
