Coulthard frustrated with fourth (11-Jul-98) - David Coulthard has claimed he was up against a brick wall in qualifying for Sunday's British Grand Prix after what he referred to as the "worst possible start" to his weekend. The McLaren ace, who had set the pace during Friday's practice sessions, was left more than a second off Hakkinen's time after a mysterious problem with his car. "I just felt like I came up against a brick wall," said the Scot, who used a different tyre type to Mika. "I'm pretty convinced there must be something not right because there is no reason I should go slower in qualifying than I did in morning practice." "I ran out of road a couple of times, especially at the exit of Priory, and I was just at the limit of grip I could find from the car. The balance itself was diabolical and I just couldn't make the car go any quicker." He added, "It definitely hurts. I said yesterday that when you see the home support that you have, even though I know it is not just for me, that you really want to perform. This weekend has got off to the worst possible start." "The emotion straight away after qualifying was that this was the biggest disappointment I can remember." --- Msged/386 4.20 beta 4* Origin: Blizzard of Ozz, Melbourne, Australia (3:635/728.4{at}fidonet) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 633/267 |
