Well every year there is an ornament exchange on one or (this year)
all the crafting echos. We sign up in September or so and then we
each make and send ornaments to the list of people in our groups.
And for the record I would never object to anyone jumping in and
asking a question. Does your wife do any crafting or sewing?
Most ornaments exchanged are hand made here in one fashion or another
I cross stitched mine, others make things like little angles out of
clothes pins, or sew mini quilt blocks, or do something with plastic
canvas or... I think you get the picture by now. This year we also made
ornaments for a local (to me) charity fund raiser. They have here (in
Tacoma WA) a group that sponsers Mary Bridge Childrens Hospital
Every year they have what is called the Festival of Trees. Local groups
and businesses get together and decorate a tree and other local
companies donate prizes and gifts for to put on or under the tree.
Then the trees are auctioned off some going as high as $5,000. The
people participating in this years ornament exchange were asked to
donate an ornament for a tree being decorated by one of the local
crafters here. The co-ordinator for this years exchange is also a
local and from what I have seen of the ornaments coming to her for
the tree, we are a bunch of really good crafters here.
I know also every spring or early summer there has been things like
bookmark and bread cloth exchanges on the cross stitching echo
Every so often an exchange of cards made by the Stampers on the
creative arts echo on this one and on the sew and quilt echo there
are quilt block and fabric fat quarter exchanges and birthday floss
exchanges. The quilt block and fat quarter and floss exchanges run
all year with sign ups starting soon if not already started for next
year.
Take care!
Roseanne
