Replying to a message of Carol Shenkenberger to Roger Nelson: CS> Well enough. All essentials are fixed, cosmetics still in progress. CS> Need to have the back porch worked on in the next 2 years due to CS> improper construction of the 'wall' which has allowd some wood rot CS> but nothig radical yet. I wish. This house has a brick foundation topped with *6x8* timbers on which the walls are built. The floor joists are notched into the timbers. A previous owner allowed dirt to build up to the top of the bricks on the north and west sides, and poured a floor-level concrete porch. All of that allowed moisture to get into and stay in those big timbers, which on the north and west sides are badly rotten. I have the north side fixed as well as it can be and am working on the west side. I've gone through 3 gallons of wood preservative thus far, I wish creosote was still available 'cause it's a lot cheaper. --- FleetStreet 1.19+* Origin: Bob's Boneyard, Emerson, Iowa (1:300/3) SEEN-BY: 10/1 3 11/201 34/999 106/1 120/228 123/500 140/1 222/2 226/0 249/303 SEEN-BY: 250/306 261/20 38 100 1381 1404 1406 1418 266/1413 280/1027 320/119 SEEN-BY: 396/45 633/260 267 712/848 801/161 189 2222/700 2320/100 105 2905/0 @PATH: 300/3 14/5 140/1 261/38 633/260 267 |
