99.99% of us here wouldn't take call centre work. Heck 99.99% of the entire
population wouldn't take call centre work if it were the only work left- after
all, any work you take you'd actually like to KEEP, wouldn't you?

Does the term "My job went to india and all I got was this lousy
teeshirt"
ring a bell?

> So they'll turn down a $39k starting wage & stay on the dole?

Why do you think they pay so much for a job that's at the bottom of the
employment food chain? It ain't because it's a lucrative job with high status.

-They get treated like shit.

-Anyone who actually *knows* anything gets a pay cut instead of a pay rise.

-You have to deal with idiots at the other end who blame YOU for any faults.
All day every day.

-If you actually _address_ faults (like you're supposed to) you get blamed by
the department higher up in the food chain that you're not passing them nearly
as much work as anyone else.

So, when call centre workers start leaving in droves, they up the price.
To the point where they start attracting people again.
Except they're not the people who've worked there before-
Those people are actually smart enought to have since moved on to real jobs.

The employers are left with call centres full of highly paid people who
really have no clue as to why they're there. -After all, they don't push nearly
as much work as the ones who have since been fed up and left.

Bugger that for a joke, the employer thinks, lets outsource, it'll be
cheaper. In the meantime, we'll get the few that do know what they're doing to
train the cheap monkeys we'll be hiring instead.

And that's just from what I've *heard* about call centre work. No chance in
hell I'm going for a job like that, knowing what I'll be up against.

And from the looks of things, I'm not the only one who thinks that.

> Just wrong IMHO.

Wrong, right, who cares, it's still demeaning.
