 I find Star Office awkward to use, and it lacks some of the nice
functions of Word (you can't set the screen background colour for
instance, and that really shits me). I agree with you that Office is
a monster, so I use the old 16-bit Word for Windows.

 As for WORD macros in Star Office, are you sure?

 When I convert WfW documents to WORD 2000 (Star Office won't convert
WfW) my Star Office converts the embedded macros perfectly.
