Oh? Do petrol stations in your area have taps available for that purpose? I've
not noticed any here. One should probably refill the bottle from the tap at
home (where one pays for one's water via the quarterly council taxes).

It most certainly wasn't free. I'm speaking of the bulk water outlet at the
base of one of their water towers. We have to buy an electronic "token" from
the council and keep it charged with credit to get water out of the outlet
(plugging it in turns on the valve in there somewhere).
One has to provide one's own hose, 100mm fitting and at least a 1000 litre
container.
I wasn't refilling a plastic bottle....
I'm not sure where you're located (in Z3?) but in this area potable water is
becoming a scarce and valuable resource. I've had no real rain in nearly 18
months.
