FB> How does it fail? Perhaps you have an incorrect setting.
The screen simply comes up and says "handshaking" (zmodem autoreceive). The
RD light on the modem flashes periodically as the other end tries to
establish handshaking. I'm certain I have it configured correctly, because
zmodem send and receive work with virtually all systems I call, but not with
this one.
If its any consolation, I use the fidonet mailer Binkleyterm and it also
fails to do a zmodem download from this particular system.
The system in question is a VAX 3800 running a Zmodem implementation from
Forsberg, the originator of Zmodem. It supports MobyTurbo, but I turned that
off (verified by transfer with DSZ which puts text up if Mobyturbo is
tive).
I would normally write this off except for one factor. When I use Commo with
external zmodem (DSZ from Forsberg), it works flawlessly.
I've tried this with two different modems on three different machines (IBM,
Compaq laptop, and HP palmtop) three different OS's (Dos 6.22, Dos 5.0, and
OS/2 Warp). All fail. All work with external DSZ.
Unfortunately, this is a secured VAX and I cannot offer to let you call into
it. However, I can run a line monitor and capture the traffic and post it to
you for examination. I realize you cannot do anything about this without
seeing the situation yourself. However, perhaps there is something unique in
the handshake sequence coming from the VAX that will give you a clue.
