I have to say something here. If a person advertises an item for sale,
wanting bidders...do the SAP (self appointed police) of the echo have to
jump in and tell the world that you know someone who's brother's cousins
sister's mother in law paid $XXXXXXX of dollars for such an item X number
of years ago?
You do nothing to set the true value of *ANY* item posted for sale or
bid in the echo, which is:
Any item is only as valuable as what someone will pay for it.
To post an unsubstantiated story that you saw one for sale for $XXXXX
dollars is a dis-service to the seller and the buyer. The only people
who should be involved in a negotiation is the buyer and seller. I am not
one who is trying to say that people are trying to take advantage of any
other person. But if someone has a bid in for an item, and someone posts a
baloney story that they heard of one that sold for $XXXX dollars in a
store somewhere, do you *really* think they are gonna up the bid on kind of
info? I think not.
It had to be said......if it offends anyone, well....Nuff said....
