But most of these people, when shoved a microphone under their nose, will be
capable of coming-up with whole sentences and reply to questions, not just a
few rehearsed one-liners.

She read from a paper what someone had written on that paper and rehearsed it
with that person, her father, who is also trying to push a book about his
daughter. Written by himself.

Being Swedish she will be the recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize. As we know,
the Norwegian Nobel Committee is famous for other silly recipients, most recent
Barack Obama for achieving nothing.

AI> She was obviously scared, but did quite well with a powerful and

I'm not questioning the message.

In the past (like 20 years ago) I have worked for the UN on international
meetings about the environment and I remember very well standing next to Severn
Cullis-Suzuki. Don't know her? How come I am not surprized...

In 1992, aged 12, she attended Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro and was allowed
to present a naive statement which in the meantime is called "The Girl Who
Silenced the World for 5 Minutes".

A strong statement, scripted, but she obviously knew what she was saying, not
like Greta who has to memorize every statement before saying it. I know, she
has Asperger's, but that is of no consequence.

Please look at this video.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oJJGuIZVfLM

In the run-up to the 2002 Conference on Sustainable Development in
Johannesburg (for which the Secretary-General of the UN asked me to volunteer
my services) I had the pleasure of sitting 3 days next to a now older Severn
Cullis-Suzuki, about 20-21, who now had no scripted paper and was kind of
helpless when being asked a question.

She became a TV-show host and an author ... then vanished from the stage.

Or look at the statement by Samantha Smith who wrote Yuri Andropov in 1982
then aged 10 ...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9TgCEvWa16Y

She wrote a book about her Russian experience and became a supporting actress
in "Lime Street" with Robert Wagner. She died in a plane crash aged 15.

And now this Greta.

Is it a coincidence that we always are confronted with young girls? Are their
statements so much more meaningful? Aren't there any boys saying anything
meaningful? Or is this indeed "scripted by the media" ... creating news.

Greta will get the Nobel Peace Prize and by the time she is 20 she will be
forgotten because she is a one trick poney. Just like Severn Cullis-Suzuki ...
Samantha Smith unfortunately did not live long enough ...

Take care,
