BAR open new factory

(9-Jul-98) - F1's newest team, British American Racing, has formally
completed "the most technologically advanced racing factory in the
world" at Brackley yesterday.

Managing director Craig Pollock opened the building which has been built
alongside the headquarters of partners Reynard Racing Cars near
Silverstone.

The factory will become operational by the end of October, facilities will
include a state-of-the-art wind tunnel which is being built over the next
six months.

Pollock said this is the first in a series of events in the coming months
that would culminate in the naming of the team's drivers for its debut
season, and the unveiling of its first all-new car.

Answering questions, Pollock said that the main names on his driver wish
list were Jacques Villeneuve, Damon Hill and US CART champion Alex Zanardi.

As a first step, Pollock hopes to sign a test driver this weekend although
it is not known who.
