Villeneuve looks to new parts for improvement (8-Jul-98) - Jacques Villeneuve is hoping that extensive modifications to his Williams FW20 will allow him to challenge at the front of the field at this weekend's British Grand Prix. The car will feature shorter sidepods which are said to cure its main problem - instability at the rear. The world champion believes there is a definite improvement, "It's difficult to quantify in lap time, but it did improve the car in the rear-end - it's a little bit more stable," he said. "We just have to work a little bit more with it. "Hopefully we can fight with the Ferraris and depending on the way the tyres are maybe the McLarens. I hope I'm not mistaken." Heinz-Harald Frentzen also felt the benefit of the new parts, "It was a good test," he added. "The new parts definitely help the driveability of the car. I was quite happy with the long run I did, although I have not yet perfected the qualifying set-up, but there are still two days at the Grand Prix to fine-tune that." --- Msged/386 4.20 beta 4* Origin: Blizzard of Ozz, Melbourne, Australia (3:635/728.4{at}fidonet) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 633/267 |
