subject: Large packets

I'm running OS/2 and bring Binkley up right away while processing mail
in another window. Normally this doesn't cause problems. Last night I got
5.5 megs of mail and it took 28 minutes to process. A downlink called
during the mail processing and so Squish couldn't add to his file. Instead
of the usual 100-300K packet size (Max messages=100), Squish created a
packet over 3 megs which broke the other (MAC) mail processor. Is there any
workaround to this problem except keeping the mailer down until processing
is complete? I use the same time to call several other systems for files.
