Why go with a relay? Just charge up the gel cels, and put a realllyyy
low current tricke on them to keep them up; no need to run them off of
120 vac at all. In fact, removing the transformer from base scanners
tends to keep them a little cooler inside, more room for air, and less
heat generated.
