Window sills. Reminds *me* of the first really stupid
thing I ever saw a cat do. I was about seven yo and we
had a cat named "Kitty." Dad named all the cats, and
he named them all "Kitty." He was a busy man. Anyhow:
Kitty was a big, grey fluffy unTom and an indoor/outdoor
cat who usually took advantage of the front door when we
came and went through it (which reminds me of the first
really stupid thing I ever saw my dad do); one day Kitty
wanted in when nobody was going in/out. Kitty jumped up
on the front windowsill to try to attract attention, and
he did, mine. Instead of opening the door and inquiring
what he wanted, I went to the window and squiggled my
finger at Kitty. Kitty responded by butting the window
with his head and rubbing on it which caused him to slide,
claws engaged, off the brick windowsill. I was horrified.
It's not spectacular, but remember...I was seven.
The first stupid thing I saw my dad do: We were leaving
the house for some event or other and Dad had *finally*
managed to get us out the front door when he realized
he'd forgotten something and opened the door to go back
in. Kitty (same Kitty) took advantage of the open door
(as usual) and darted in the house. Dad's mounting
frustration peaked at that point and overflowed. Kitty
headed for the kitchen but when he realized there was an
enraged patriarch on his tail did a left turn and headed
for the bedrooms. Dad managed to herd the cat out of
the bedrooms and the cat headed for the kitchen again.
The route took the cat over the curved piece of our
sectional couch and my dad, all judgement having long ago
fled, did a running broadjump over the couch. He almost
made it, but his foot caught the back of couch and all
three (Dad, couch section, cat) ended in a heap in the
dining room (mother was furious). We did eventually make
it where ever we were going, but I learned how to smirk
on that day. ;>
