Arrows boost power

(8-Jul-98) - The Arrows team are to introduce a new engine at this
weekend's British Grand Prix.

The team are hoping that the latest version of the in-house V10 will boost
their performance after both Mika Salo and Pedro Diniz tested the unit at
Silverstone last week.

Salo said, "It was very promising and it gave quite a big gain. It's
not that big a leap in power, but it's very driveable, and it will help us
get to the next stage with the car. We'd sort of ended up going round in
circles, but now we've got a better engine we can take a step forward with
the the set-up."

The Finn, however, warned against expecting too much, "It's still not
enough," he said. "But then that's the same for everyone. Racing
drivers can never have enough power."

The team is planning to introduce a long-wheelbase version of it's A19 in
the next few weeks. Technical director John Barnard said, "We're going
to test some geometry variations and once we've done that it will give us
information about which way to do the longer car."
