Melbourne to keep the race

(7-Jul-98) - The Australian Grand Prix will remain in Melbourne for another
eight years according to a Victoria State government announcement.

The Grand Prix, which was run in Adelaide for 11 years before moving to
Melbourne in 1996, will remain in Melbourne at least until 2006 after the
government took up it's option for another five years.

The race, which has won the Formula One team's award for being the best
Grand Prix, made five million Australian dollars this year, and is believed
to have had an overall economic benefit of 97 million Australian dollars.
