subject: Calling all cat-lovers (probably including JMS)

Cats are never off-topic for this group, I think...

On BBC Radio 4 all this week have been readings from "Paw Tracks in the
Moonlight" by Denis O'Connor, the memoir of man who rescued a two-week-old
kitten from near death. Set in 1966 in northeast England, the tale is read
by Kevin Whately (who played/plays Lewis in the TV series Morse and its
spinoff, Lewis).

A lightly written story with especial resonance here because the cat in
question was a Maine coon...

It's still available (part 1 until 10:02am GMT on Monday 28 December; other
parts have successive daily cutoffs) on the BBC iPlayer, though I don't know
whether folk outside the UK can access it. Give it a try anyway.
