subject: MSGED 4.00 suggestions for improvem

Hi all,

I have been using MSGED 4.00 (MSGED4MP, DOS version, actually) for a while
now and I'm quite satisfied with it. However, there are still a few things
bugging me:

- When I am editing a message and want to jump to DOS, I usually get a
dialog box saying "DOS command returned errorlevel 0" right
away. I presume this is because I am out of memory. That's okay, but
sometimes doing that makes my cursor disappear. I can still type and
everything, but I can't see the cursor. Saving the message and editing it
again makes the cursor reappear. Sometimes I even get lockups if I shell to
DOS.

- Minor detail: when I am in the area list I would like the jump to dos key
(Alt-!) to work as well.

- I often have to include (Alt-I) files with very similar names and with
long pathnames. Right now I have to type the path name EVERY time I include
a file. After pressing Alt-I again the previously entered path is gone. It
would be great if the most recently entered string would still be there,
like in the Find (Alt-F) function.

It can't be very difficult to make these modifications and I would like to
make them myself, however I cannot get MSGED to compile. Or rather, I can't
get MSGAPI38 to compile, probably because I am using DOS. If someone could
tell me how to get MSGED 4.00 to compile with Borland C++ 3.1 for DOS I
would appreciate that very much.

(In fact, I can get it to compile if I use an old library from MSGAPI0, but
I get a lot of warnings and it locks up as soon as I enter a message area.)

Thanks in advance!

Met vriendelijke groet,
    Frank
