OF course, and the big carriers, ROadway, COnsolidated
Freightways, etc. aren't getting hurt as bad as the owner
operators.  Roadway  CF at all just charges you more to get
that pallet of widgets from origination to destination.
tHeir drivers get the same amount per mile.

NOw consider otoh the guy who drives for NOrth American or
JB Hunt, etc.  HE's an owner operator, and he's hauling
truckloads.  tHe brokers who keep these guys running can't
bump the rates near as much as the bigs who specialize in
less than truckload amounts.

Probably telling you more than you want to know, as I"ve got family
all over the business.  tHe ltl carriers with big
"break bulk" centers can bump everybody a little bit and
still make the nut.  THe truckload carriers, which for the
most part are brokerages don't have that much wiggle room.
