I would LUV a town with strict no smoking laws. My hat is off to your
area.

That is getting to be the case more and more. As more non-smokers are
willing to voice their true opinion, that they REALLY don't like to
endure cigarette smoke, more establishments will come around.
JRM> RT> The major problem is smokers who violate no-smoking policies.
> RT> Who, but the government, is to protect me from them.
JRM>Unfortunately, there are far more serious crimes being comitted that

Not withstanding the fact that many police officers smoke. It sorta
comes with the territory. I can relate to that because I once smoked
and I started while I was wearing a badge. Didn't quit until after I
quit policing. It helps to pass those long hours of boredom and to calm
you after those few minutes of sheer terror. Also, its mighty easy to
rationalize the danger of cigarette smoking when you are faced with very
real threats of life threatening circumstances every day of your life.
It seems to pale in comparison. Sadly, upon retirement when those life
long troopers are wishing for the safe comfort of their easy chairs,
that habit comes back to haunt.
As for the seriousness of the crime?? The knowledge of the adverse
effects of tobacco is getting more and more common. Also, the liability
of allowing one person to intentionally expose another to that danger is
getting more and more press. I see the attitude that cigarette smoking
in public is only a nuisance going away. You may well see a change in
the priority of enforcement of the law.
