I believe the wb4hfn wedsite has an article that discusses PTO cleaning and
lubricating (perhaps the one called "smooth as silk PTO tuning").
Check it out, it mentions the use of some special lubricant that has copper
in it. The purpose is to make sure the PTO shaft is well grounded. Maybe
that is the solution to the frequency shifting.

Well, here is the problem...The Tr7 is solid with the exception of a slight
warble in the receiver. When sitting on a frequency listening to a cw
signal or just tuned to the calibrator, the frequency will shift perhaps 80
or 100 cycles. Enough to be audible and annoying. This started shortly
after I cleaned the main shaft of the PTO with De Oxit and followed up with
a clean q tip to remove the residue. I have cleaned the PTO's on my 4 line
many times and not experienced this. I think it is the PTO but I thought I
would throw this one out to the group for comments and advice.

As always, thanks for any input!

Thanks,
