   Yes you have to recompile your kernel and select the appropriate network 
card support. My Winbond PCI network board didn't work after recompiling so i 
found the NE2000-PCI patch which i downloaded from the site below then i 
installed the patch and then recompiled again and everything workied fine 
after that..
