From out of the Darkness, Marie Weidemann spoke:
PK> Since your an adult you probably do not understand what goes on with

PK> they think your cool if you drink. Some of them say that they are
PK> addicted but they go without a drink for a week until the next party.
MW> Since I have teenagers around and counsel some of them, I do
MW> understand what goes on..and things have not changed in this way since
MW> I was a teenager..peer pressure has been around for a very long
MW> time..and so has alcohol...and yes, people *do* go into bars and have
MW> just soda or orange juice..
You know, Marie, peer pressure doesn't just happen to teenagers...it
happens to college students and adults as well. I was under a bit of peer
pressure to start drinking when I was in college. However, as alcoholism
is a disease and some think possibly some people are predisposed to become
alcoholics, I happened to be one of those people that became an alcoholic
through circumstances that are usually considered "a stage".
As for people who go into bars and have just soda or orange juice...I can
do that if I really want to, but for me the temptation to drink is a little
too great. I haven't had a drink in a little over a year...I don't go into
bars or clubs anymore...for me I have to avoid the places that serve
alcohol if I want to remain on the right road for me.
