VW> So am I, but doubt I have the hardware to run it
If you have to ask, you probably don't have the machine. Though DNF is
being designed to Quake II level specs (500 polygons per scene), I'm sure the
good folks at 3D Realms will try to push that limit as much as they can. So
you may need at least a P120 and 16 MB of RAM to get it going.
VW> yeah it'll be kewl if Lo Wang helps him a bit in a level...who wants
ome
VW> wang? And then they have a one-liner contest :)
No, it's highly doubtful that Lo will show up anywhere in the game. Sorry,
but he's not THAT cool.
VW> I just play over the modem, its free :)
Only one problem: you probably won't be able to play it via modem at all.
Quake II only supports TCP/IP networking (so guess what will probably happen
in DNF?), and I haven't heard of anyone who has successfully used Dial-Up
Networking for a modem game. Even if they did succeed, performance probably
wouldn't be as spectacular as you might like. The Quake-engine multiplayer
code has never really been suitable for head-to-head, at least not in direct
modem connections.
