Kurt Busch won his second pole of the season and gave Dodge its fifth No. 1
starting position in the past six races. Dodge leads all manufacturers with
eight poles in 2006.

KURT BUSCH (No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge Charger)

Immediately after qualifying lap

"There's a little bit of Rusty in this car, but there's a whole lot of Roy
McCauley. We've been getting pretty close on it, but this is a decent lap for
us. If we don't get the pole that's all right. It's a good starting position
for our Miller Lite Dodge. Everybody has been working hard. The team
communication continues to grow and this is nice. It was a nice, solid run
today and we kept it on course. That was big. I think I can turn left and
right, but there's probably 15 guys out here that can do better than I can do
and then we've got the road course ringers. I really enjoy going left and
right. Sonoma is fun.

Watkins Glen not as much, but if we can do better at Sonoma maybe it'll help
us at Watkins Glen. I enjoy them (hired guns) coming over to our series and
what's really scary these guys continue to develop and get better. Pruett has
been with the same team a few years. Fellows has been with the Tide Ride and
Boris is running different cars. He's positioning himself to get in the right
car, so it's interesting how things are working at the road courses these
days. I think we've got a good shot at getting a good starting spot. With
Gordon slipping and us beating Robby and Boris so far, there's going to be
somebody that pops in there though. I'm not getting my hopes up. I think this
is a pretty solid race team. Rusty has done real well with this car, and I
think the fuel mileage here is a key issue. This team has done it beautifully
the last two years with getting a top-five finish out of fuel mileage. Rusty
can drive. If I can drive half the candle that Rusty held, we'll be all
right. I think I drove a conservative lap. I did slide the front tires in
turn 11. I got in there decent, but it gave me a decent exit. I kinda
diamonded the corner instead of driving through it, so we'll see how it ends
up. You're so nervous when you drive a road course you overdrive the car
every corner. You take it easy when you do your lap and it feels like it
turns out better."

After winning his second pole of the season

"It feels good for our team to win a second pole, first on a road course for
me. Roy McCauley has a lot of creative ideas in this car. I wanted to take
'em all out on my first few laps, but we worked on it. It's given us a great
starting position. We're going to work on the car tomorrow. We've got a lot
of good cars behind me. We don't have Ricky Rudd here this year and Rusty. I
finished third to Ricky last year, and I'm in Rusty's car now. It's going to
be hot Sunday, and I think everybody should be having some Miller Lite
instead of wine out here. We'll get the No. 1 pit box, and I think that pays
dividends at a lot of places, this being one."
